A Good Question

If you died today and stood before God, and He asked, "Why should I let you into Heaven?", what would you say?

There are five truths that you must know...

  1. Good Works do not Secure Salvation
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    • Although you may think you are a good person, the Bible tells us that our good works do not get us to Heaven.

        2. You Are a Sinner

  • Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    • Have you ever done anything wrong? Lied? Lusted? Stolen? The Bible calls those things SIN. We all have sinned!

       3. You Earn Death and Hell Because of Your Sin

  • Romans 6:23a - For the wages of sin is death...
    • Wages are what you earn. When you have a job you earn a wage. The Bible says that what we earn for our sin Is death. Not just being buried six-feet under, but eternal separation from God in Hell.

This is a bad situation is it not? You are a sinner and the Bible says that you deserve death and hell for your sin.

       4. God Loves You and Wants To Save You!

  • Romans 6:23b - ...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    • Even though you are a sinner and deserve death and hell, God loves you so much that He sent His own Son to die on the cross and rise again the third day to pay the penalty for your sin.

       5. You Must Trust Christ Alone To Save You.

  • Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
    • God loves you and sent His Son Jesus Christ to save you. If you will trust Christ as your Savior, believing He died for your sin, was buried, and rose again the third day, you WILL be saved.

Will you trust Christ to be saved today?

Ways to grow as a Christian:

Be baptized.
Baptism identifies you with Christ.
Acts 8: 35-40 “35)Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36) And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37) And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38) And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39) And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. 40) But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.”

Study the Bible.
The Bible will guide you through life and answer life’s questions.
Psalms 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Share your faith with others.
2 Timothy 1:8 “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;”

Matthew 10:32 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.”

Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Be part of a local church.
Ephesians 4:11-12 “11)And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Fellowship with other Christians.
Hebrews 10:24, 25 “24) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

God desires to meet your needs! Make prayer a part of your daily life.
Luke 11:2-5 “2) And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3) Give us day by day our daily bread. 4) And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
